United States Beer Reviews
Although beer existed in the United States from its birth (and before), it wasn’t until Prohibition that the state of beer in America was truly united. Today, the United States is arguably the world’s most important beer market, where brewers enjoy the most freedom to practice and advance their craft. The market is a true melting pot of brewing styles and traditions, and the beer community is as vibrant as it is diverse. While things really got started during and as a result of the Prohibition Era (1919-1933), fermented drinks pre-date the country’s founding in 1776. Hailed as a land of opportunity, huge macrobrewing enterprises like AB InBev and MillerCoors co-exist alongside a growing number of small craft beer companies. A country built by immigrants, America has heavy European brewing influences. The number of influential breweries are too great to number, and the list continues to evolve as independent brewers push innovation in the craft and give the world more and more interesting lagers and ales to explore.

I love wheats. The Wisconsin-only brewer, doesn’t disappoint. That’s right, those of you who aren’t in the state of cheese are out of luck on this one, you’ll have to grab it while driving through like I did. The refreshing brew pours a light...

by Nate | Deschutes Brewery, Oregon, Pint Glass, United States, Winter Ale / Warmer |
Perhaps my favorite part about the experience of drinking beer is that there is a nearly inexhaustible variety to choose from. There is a beer for every mood, for every gathering, and yes, for every season. Most people are giddy with anticipation for the...

Octoberfest. The name itself conjures up images of heavyset, lederhosen-clad German men clanking overflowing steins and joining in rousing polka numbers. Busty fräuleins serve beer by the gallon. Bratwurst and sauerkraut are piled high, steaming on oversized platters....
by John | American Pale Ale (APA), Mug, New York, Pint Glass, Shmaltz Brewing Company, United States |
I was put on to this beer while reading an article on the CNN website about the resurgence of Judaism among young Jews. I couldn’t pass it up just because of the great marketing scheme they have going. Shmaltz Brewing has just a few beers with Genesis being the lead...
by John | Brewery Ommegang, Goblet, New York, Quadrupel, Snifter, Tulip, United States |
I am not a big lite beer fan, unless it’s with pizza so when I found Three Philosophers Belgian Quadrupel I was excited. I was initially disappointed. The beer is a beautiful color of deep but not dark brown. The second sip was smooth and velvety, and I encountered a...
