I am not a big lite beer fan, unless it’s with pizza so when I found Three Philosophers Belgian Quadrupel I was excited. I was initially disappointed. The beer is a beautiful color of deep but not dark brown. The second sip was smooth and velvety, and I encountered a slight hint of cherry and vanilla. The more I drank the better it got. I haven’t figured out the taste yet. Maybe it’s the cherry that gets me off track. It has a bit of an after taste that is unpleasant but tolerable. It really goes well with chocolate. Both the beer and the chocolate benefit from this combo. I noticed three hours after I drank this that I still had a “buzz.” It is unlike any beer I’ve had before but would try it again.
