United States Beer Reviews
Although beer existed in the United States from its birth (and before), it wasn’t until Prohibition that the state of beer in America was truly united. Today, the United States is arguably the world’s most important beer market, where brewers enjoy the most freedom to practice and advance their craft. The market is a true melting pot of brewing styles and traditions, and the beer community is as vibrant as it is diverse. While things really got started during and as a result of the Prohibition Era (1919-1933), fermented drinks pre-date the country’s founding in 1776. Hailed as a land of opportunity, huge macrobrewing enterprises like AB InBev and MillerCoors co-exist alongside a growing number of small craft beer companies. A country built by immigrants, America has heavy European brewing influences. The number of influential breweries are too great to number, and the list continues to evolve as independent brewers push innovation in the craft and give the world more and more interesting lagers and ales to explore.

Tom: I brought a selection of beers over to my parent’s house to watch the Bears vs Packers regular season game some months back. Well, with the smell of my Mom baking chocolate chip oatmeal cookies I was lured away from the TV and decided to review some beer (5...

Tom: This is a working man’s/woman’s brew that has character and not for the faint of heart. Special thanks to my beer friend Amie for hooking me up with this interesting Double IPA (Batch #3 in 2010). It is brewed with Florida honey which is evident by the color. It...

According to the brewery there are two pounds of whole leaf hops cones per barrel making this a hop lover’s dream come true. The bottle depicts a regal king holding his own brew and a hop shaped scepter visually setting the stage for this deliciously royal hoppy brew....

Pepe Nero! The name and presentation are the best parts of this beer. I was all excited by the packaging but disappointed with the results. The color was nice and black in keeping with the “mystery” of the bottle. It poured a little brown head that lasted...

I was fortunate enough to recently have a buddy bring me some Deschutes beers that he picked up in Minnesota. One of those brews was Mirror Pond Pale Ale … one of their classic offerings. While on the West Coast, this Pale is toted as a balanced beer. One thing...
