I was put on to this beer while reading an article on the CNN website about the resurgence of Judaism among young Jews. I couldn’t pass it up just because of the great marketing scheme they have going. Shmaltz Brewing has just a few beers with Genesis being the lead beer and Messiah Bold being the dark beer (I didn’t like Messiah Bold as much even though I loved the marketing line they use, Messiah Bold – The Beer You’ve Been Waiting For). I can’t wait to taste the Pomegranate Ale although I’m afraid it might be hard to find. Anyway, Genesis is a medium beer. It is very smooth with no after taste. That’s my ideal beer: smoothness that doesn’t get lost because it ends poorly. It has a soft bouquet (is that a beer review word, it works for wine?). Goes down very easily. I drank it at 50 degrees in spite of my preference for cold beers. The brewers recommend the drinking temperature on each of their bottles. That was helpful. It was light enough to have two so I did! I’ll buy this again.
