United States Beer Reviews
Although beer existed in the United States from its birth (and before), it wasn’t until Prohibition that the state of beer in America was truly united. Today, the United States is arguably the world’s most important beer market, where brewers enjoy the most freedom to practice and advance their craft. The market is a true melting pot of brewing styles and traditions, and the beer community is as vibrant as it is diverse. While things really got started during and as a result of the Prohibition Era (1919-1933), fermented drinks pre-date the country’s founding in 1776. Hailed as a land of opportunity, huge macrobrewing enterprises like AB InBev and MillerCoors co-exist alongside a growing number of small craft beer companies. A country built by immigrants, America has heavy European brewing influences. The number of influential breweries are too great to number, and the list continues to evolve as independent brewers push innovation in the craft and give the world more and more interesting lagers and ales to explore.

I recently grabbed a couple of singles at my local liquor store and two of them happened to be seasonals by Lakefront Brewery. The other night I cracked one of them, their Bock. When it comes to this style, it’s hard not to spend most of your time talking about...

I know! Finally another random cider review! Tell me about it. This time it’s Woodchuck’s Limited Release Summer Cider. This will be my 3rd of 4 reviews of their limited seasonal ciders. So far I would say my favorite is the Limited Release Fall Cider. For...

Michael: As I’ve said before, supply and demand in the beer world has a significant impact on expectations. Several weeks ago, I hadn’t even heard of this beer, until up popped a news story about it, a soon-to-come release of a never-before-released beer,...

Its not often that I’m sipping a brew before noon. Even a breakfast stout feels a little weird if I can still pick up my phone and greet ‘good morning.’ But on this oh-so-special occasion, I have decided to imbibe a bit before the minute and hour hands meet at the 12....

Michael: After a six day strep-induced beer drinking hiatus, I am cautiously stepping back into the arena. With a pilsner, I figured I couldn’t go wrong. It seemed like an easy drinking style and my still tender tonsils couldn’t handle much more than that....
