United States Beer Reviews
Although beer existed in the United States from its birth (and before), it wasn’t until Prohibition that the state of beer in America was truly united. Today, the United States is arguably the world’s most important beer market, where brewers enjoy the most freedom to practice and advance their craft. The market is a true melting pot of brewing styles and traditions, and the beer community is as vibrant as it is diverse. While things really got started during and as a result of the Prohibition Era (1919-1933), fermented drinks pre-date the country’s founding in 1776. Hailed as a land of opportunity, huge macrobrewing enterprises like AB InBev and MillerCoors co-exist alongside a growing number of small craft beer companies. A country built by immigrants, America has heavy European brewing influences. The number of influential breweries are too great to number, and the list continues to evolve as independent brewers push innovation in the craft and give the world more and more interesting lagers and ales to explore.

GYO simply put stands for Grow Your Own. Since I’ve taken up a green thumb and decided to grow my own hops this summer this beer appealed to the horticulturalist in me. Rogue brewery is located near one of the best hop growing regions of the world so the decision to...

With a shimmering, ever changing amber-brown-orange, this ale seemed more seductive than arrogant. The head frothed a bit, puffed itself up and out and then receded into the body below, simply and slyly beckoning me. Knowing only that it was an ale and that it was one...

I love beer. I think at this point, that’s got to be a fairly obvious point. I love it for the taste, yes, the smell, the look and the unbelievable varieties. But I also love the circumstance that surrounds each brew. I rarely here the hiss of a bottle cap and proceed...

That last week brought with it an unwelcomed guest by the name of Sickness. I’m sure you’ve all meet him before. He usually is accompanied by massive congestion, headaches, sneezing, boxes of Kleenex, and coughing. Due to my sensory system being out of commission I...

As I peered into the refrigerator today, hoping something would grab my eye (and stomach) for lunch, I noticed my bottle of Rogue Chipotle Ale behind a tub of Papa Charlie’s Italian beef. It was practically screaming “Drink me!”, and I’m really not one to refuse a...
