United States Beer Reviews
Although beer existed in the United States from its birth (and before), it wasn’t until Prohibition that the state of beer in America was truly united. Today, the United States is arguably the world’s most important beer market, where brewers enjoy the most freedom to practice and advance their craft. The market is a true melting pot of brewing styles and traditions, and the beer community is as vibrant as it is diverse. While things really got started during and as a result of the Prohibition Era (1919-1933), fermented drinks pre-date the country’s founding in 1776. Hailed as a land of opportunity, huge macrobrewing enterprises like AB InBev and MillerCoors co-exist alongside a growing number of small craft beer companies. A country built by immigrants, America has heavy European brewing influences. The number of influential breweries are too great to number, and the list continues to evolve as independent brewers push innovation in the craft and give the world more and more interesting lagers and ales to explore.

Caught in the heartland of Wisconsin I wanted to get a “local” beer. So Stevens Point was my choice. I like to get a feel for what the locals like to drink so when near Steven’s Point I picked up a 6 pack of, whatelse, Stevens Point. It was a nice...

Tonight, I was vain, I’ll admit. I wanted a pretty beer. It may sound strange, when you drink beer, not stare at it, but its true, I was looking for a good lookin’ brew. And I found one in McCarthy Red Ale. This red ale was definitely that, a beautiful auburn,...
by John | American Wheat Ale, Arcadia Ales, Michigan, Mug, Pint Glass, United States, Weizen Glass |
I shouldn’t be drinking this is December with 2 feet of snow on the ground but this ale’s number came up. It was time to drink and review. I picked is off the shelf as a single and waited for a day when a review wasn’t going to be rushed. This brew...
by Team | Coffee Beers, Hawaii, Kona Brewing Company, Mug, Pint Glass, Porter, United States |
Taylor: Coffee and beer. Believe it or not, the two were not always as commonly spoken of in the same context. Historically, coffee entered the conversation around the time that porters and stouts did, which was mainly 18th century London. But stouts may have surfaced...
by John | American IPA, California, Mendocino Brewing Company, Mug, Pint Glass, United States |
I hate cheap beer! I love this cheap beer. I picked up a six pace of White Hawk IPA for $5.99. Not for a minute did I think that’s cheap beer so don’t buy it. I had had another Mendocino brew and felt confident that this would be acceptable. It was more...
