United States Beer Reviews
Although beer existed in the United States from its birth (and before), it wasn’t until Prohibition that the state of beer in America was truly united. Today, the United States is arguably the world’s most important beer market, where brewers enjoy the most freedom to practice and advance their craft. The market is a true melting pot of brewing styles and traditions, and the beer community is as vibrant as it is diverse. While things really got started during and as a result of the Prohibition Era (1919-1933), fermented drinks pre-date the country’s founding in 1776. Hailed as a land of opportunity, huge macrobrewing enterprises like AB InBev and MillerCoors co-exist alongside a growing number of small craft beer companies. A country built by immigrants, America has heavy European brewing influences. The number of influential breweries are too great to number, and the list continues to evolve as independent brewers push innovation in the craft and give the world more and more interesting lagers and ales to explore.

While at the Bavarian Lodge for the rare Mad Hatter flight I stayed for dinner and needed another brew. I found on the list of tap beers an interesting lager by 3 Floyds called Samurai Gazeebo. Since I’m a sucker for limited edition/one-off beers I had to give it a...

Taylor: In the humble state of Missouri there lies a brewery called Boulevard that makes a really good Irish Ale. Boulevard Brewing Company’s Irish Red Ale found my glass on a hot summer evening after waiting patiently in my refrigerator. It comes in a short...

Half Acre and Three Floyds are at it again. After their one-off release of Invasion (a Helles Bock) these breweries teamed up a second time to create an IPA. I was excited to hear about this given that 3 Floyds is known for its hoppy beers and Half Acre produces a...
by Taylor Birkey | Blonde Ale, Mug, Pint Glass, Rock Art Brewery, United States, Vermont |
Only the second beer from Rock Art Brewery that I have tried, Whitetail is a nice crisp ale that has great balance. After enjoying the Ridge Runner Barley Wine I was looking forward to something a little different from Rock Art and Whitetail fit the bill (it was also...
by Taylor Birkey | Fruit Beers, Long Trail Brewing Company, United States, Vermont |
People in Vermont love them some Long Trail. The Bridgewater Corners, VT brewery makes a host of different beers, and the Blackbeary Wheat is one of their four year-round offerings. The labels are a little childish for my taste, but it’s what’s inside the...
