A few nights before Christmas, and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, but me with my stout.
Bell’s Special Double Cream, to be exact and precise,
I hadn’t had it before, it was a roll of the dice
Expectations were high, it poured motor oil black
And soon, I found out, there wasn’t much that it lacked
A two finger head all fluffy and brown
Sat atop the swirling darkness like a king with his crown
Like a root beer float foam, it stayed at the top
From my first little swig, till the very last drop
Retention as they say, was very first class
And a spider-web lace climbed down the whole glass
Scents in full force, made for a strong nose
Mocha and taffy and creamy arose
Now for the best part, a sip for the taste
The smoothness, incredible, right in my face!
Like gulping a glass of cool half ‘n half
This brewski so good, out of my mouth came a laugh
A faint bit of vanilla seemed then to diminish
Right before a long-lasting perfect bittery finish
Oh what a drink, a great end to the day
