I had a $60 gift card to burn up at Dennis Brothers so I asked John (one of the brothers) to point me in the direction of a good hoppy selection. He recommended a number of brews and highlighted this Hoptimum bomber as one of the best. He was right on. I had just finished Bell’s Hopslam and thought nothing could come close to being a perfect DIPA. I was wrong. Hoptimum rivals Hopslam! It’s nice to have two super hoppy beers for me to pick from. It poured a hazy copper with nice carbonation and large foamy head of white. It stayed for a while with its stickiness, clinging to the glass. The aroma was strong, bright, fresh! You know how you imagine what a beer is going to taste like when you smell it? And the smell is what you hope for? This is what Hoptimum delivers. Citric and piney hops and a slight sweet malt aroma. The taste was like the aroma. Excellent. Citrusy, piney and bittersweet. Not as sweet as Hopslam but just as smooth and enjoyable. The mouthfeel was terrific too. Smooth, oily and soothing! I spread this session over a couple hours and thoroughly enjoyed this $9 bomber. The hop-heads who put this together created an extreme hop experience that I think you’ll love.
