My wife and were Christmas shopping the Saturday before Christmas. If you have ever been shopping that day, it is insane. The stores are packed with people like us who have waiting until the end to get their final Christmas present. I was tired of shopping, tired of the lines, and tired of trying to guess what my mom wants for Christmas so I dropped my wife off at a store and told her I was running to Quizno’s for a sub. On my way to picking her up I hit a detour at the liquor store next to Quizno’s for a beer to sample after we finished shopping. I was looking for something new and this hefeweizen by Hacker-Pschorr was on sale so I thought I would give it a try.

Right when I got home I cracked open the 500ml bottle. It poured a huge, 2 finger fluffy head. The color was a very cloudy yellow orange. I held it up and it looked like the color of the fossilized dinosaur egg from Jurassic Park. The smell was very strong of wheat with some hints of banana. The taste is of mild banana, citrus, and wheat malts. If you like hefeweizen you will like this one. It is very light with medium carbonation and has a bitter finish that left the tongue tingling.

Overall, this is a very solid hefeweizen with a great balance of flavors. It is very drinkable and made Christmas shopping less painful. I would definitely buy this one again, even if it’s not on sale.
