3 a great Belgian style beer from Surly Brewery in Brooklyn Center Mn.

This beer lives up to the heart of a cynic– “virtue is the only good”. This virtuous brew is made with a unique Belgian yeast strain that creates the spicy flavor and imported hops lend the apricot/peach aroma. I love this Surly beer. It’s color is amber. It’s head is lacy. It’s taste is carmel, apricot and peach. There is even a hint of orange if you swish it around in your mouth for awhile. Of course the first thing you notice is the aroma. I’d describe the aroma as bright, fresh and inviting. This is a beer that says “toss me”, “gulp me” don’t sip me. You want to drink it like you would if you were really thirsty and had a glass of cold water in your hand. The mouth feel is light not sweet but the “sting” (for those of you who like sting) comes at the end. In others words until the end it has a slightly smooth feel. This was a beer that I was definitely disappointed when I got to the bottom of the glass. I really wanted more and I am a light beer cynic.
