On March 17 I purchased my first growler! For those who are new to the beer world a growler is 64 oz of beer in a bottle. Great Waters doesn’t sell their beer any other way. I had some extra on may GW gift certificate and wanted to spend it ASAP. So I bought the GW Pale Ale. The bottle was marked 5/17! They told me to drink it within a couple months. I couldn’t find the right time to enjoy this much beer at one specific location until August 19. That’s 5 months of a pale ale sitting in a frig. If this would have been a stout I would not have had any anxiety about it turning skunky. So when I opened it I was not only surprised but delighted. After 3 months of sitting in the dark frig it was wonderful.

It poured an amber, golden color with a nice head. Creamy and long lasting. I’m afraid that my review is overly optimistic because I thought I was going to lose the whole thing. It was smooth, flavorful and satisfying. There was the normal hoppy flavor with a back bone of malt. It also came with caramel and citrus. What I loved the most was the refreshing nature of this local St. Paul brew. If you swish it around in your mouth for awhile you’ll find that pine comes through as a pleasant treat. It finishes dry with a call for more. It is definitely sessionable. If you are ever in St. Paul drop by this nice little micro brewery and pick up a growler. Your selection changes but if you have a chance pick up their St. Peter Pale Ale. I think you’ll love it.
