ApriHop American IPA is a Spring seasonal brewed by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Delaware. It is a self-proclaimed “fruit beer for hopheads,” aptly named for its subtle apricot flavor due to the fruit being added during the brewing process. Compared to the other apricot beer I’ve had, Magic Hat #9, ApriHop leans more on the hops than the apricots to deliver the flavor, giving us a refreshing yet hoppy beer.

Mine poured a brownish copper into the snifter, and left very little head. The hop aromas were immediate, thanks to the Amarillos used in dry-hopping. There was still a faint malt presence, which I think balanced out the nose quite nicely.

Always hard to say mean things about Dogfish Head’s beers …  I could see why it is one of their most popular seasonals: it’s a great mix of sweet fruit and hop bitterness. High carbonation means refreshing and crisp. Citrus and pine. Finishes nice and hoppy.

I will be drinking this. Yes, yes I will.
