Yet another impressive ale from the brewery that is gaining ground in my book for the number one spot on my favorite brewery list. Wow, so consistent and impressive.

Northwest Pale Ale it is. Quite the apt name for this beer. Aroma, body, flavor all scream northwest USA. It is delicious. Deschutes describes this beer saying, “not ready for a full on hop assault? Red Chair NWPA is a smoother ride.” This is no IPA but there is plenty of hop going on especially in the foreground. The ABV is 6.4%, which also leans a bit more towards the IPA than the pale ale side.

Plenty of citrusy hops right up front with a lighter malt body to back it up. By no means is this a light ale. It is a surprisingly confrontational in flavor. Tilting a little more towards hop than malt.

What else can I say? Nothing bad that’s for sure. I’d say give it a try.

ABV: 6.4%
