France, known around the world for its elevated cuisine, wines, ciders, and cheeses, has a largely macro-centric beer scene. Light beers dominate the market, which is 90% controlled by major macrobrewers. The region, however, is more notable in that it is Europe’s largest producer of barley, and the world’s largest exporter of malt.
